Serving Mobile Location Centre (SMLC)
The Mobile Arts Serving Mobile Location Centre (SMLC) can be used in all GSM, UMTS and CDMA networks. The SMLC provides both network-based, terminal-based, probe-based and hybrid location methods to provide reliable, accurate location and presence information to applications.
Location Methods
The location methods supported by the SMLC include:
- 3GPP GSM LCS Location (SMLC-part)
- BSSAP-signalling with BSC
- GSM Enhanced Cell-Id Location (CGI + TA + NMR)
- GSM Control Plane A-GPS Location (MS-based, MS-assisted) and reference data import from local/external A-GPS reference data server
- GSM Cell Location Data import
- 3GPP UMTS LCS Location (SMLC-part)
- PCAP-signalling with RNC
- UMTS Cell-Id Location (Cell-Id + RTT)
- UMTS A-GPS Location (MS-based, MS-assisted)
- UMTS Cell Location Data import
- Probe-Based location
Features
The Mobile Arts SMLC provides an extensive set of features, such as:
- High resolution location calculation, including support for Enhanced CGI based location using advanced methods, such as particle filtering (using maps), Kalman filtering (stochastic location estimation) and self-tuning (neural network)
- Zone-based and proximity-based event triggered location reporting
- Location of mobile terminals in both active and passive state
