Proxy Mobile Location Centre (XMLC)

The Proxy Mobile Location Centre (XMLC) is the focal point of the Mobile Arts combined location and messaging architecture. It provides a single point of contact for applications (XMLC clients).

The XMLC allows for application controlled on demand mobile location and inclusion of location information in messages bound for applications. In addition, the XMLC supports the translation of end-user address information to anonymous addresses, allowing 3rd party applications to be invoked on demand by end-users whilst avoiding problems with privacy.

XMLC features include:

  • One single messaging API for XMLC clients regardless of access type used (SMS, WAP, USSD, MMS)
  • Automatic inclusion of service requester location in messages (SMS, WAP, USSD, MMS) addressed to location enabled applications (XMLC clients)
  • Spatial triggers and periodic location reporting
  • Support for interworking with the following Mobile Arts or 3rd party legacy products:
    • SMSC
    • WAP-Gateway
    • USSD-Gateway
    • MMSC
    • GMLC
  • OMA MLP based client interface supporting routing to/from location servers of standard Mobile Originating (MO), Network Initiated (NI) & Mobile Terminated (MT) location messages; emergency MT location messages and triggered location messages
  • Distribution of MLP messages to local location server or remote middleware/loctaion server based on MSISDN or IMSI
  • OMA IP-based location roaming fully supported (OMA Roaming Location Protocol, RLP)
  • XMLC client capacity license management and accouting
  • Privacy handling (white-, black and grey-list)
  • Web-based message log-search for customer care personnel
