Short Message Service Centre (SMSC)
The Mobile Arts Short Message Service Centre (SMSC) is a high throughput, full featured SMSC supporting both classic originating SMSC functionality, as well as unique terminating SMSC capabilities. In addition, Mobile Arts provides a suite of embedded SMSC Applications.
The SMSC features include:
- Mobile Originating (MO) message handling: the SMSC fully supports receipt, processing and onward routing of MO short messages according to 3GPP standards. Messages that cannot be immediately delivered are stored for later delivery based on flexible retry schemes and interworking with the GSM/UMTS network. Further MO capabilities include originating party authorization, content and message type based routing, delivery and status report sending, and flexible invocation of originating SMS applications.
- Mobile Terminating (MT) message handling: the SMSC fully supports intercept/redirect, receipt, processing, and onward routing of MT short messages. Terminating SMS applications can be invoked regardless of the SMS originating network and the visited network of the message receiver.
- Application Originating and Terminating SMSC (AO/AT) message handling: the SMSC supports both-way communication with large accounts (clients) using open APIs, such as SMPP. Large accounts are easiliy created and can be tailored with respect to principles for addressing, routing, charging, accounting, and client load control. The client API supports bulk and scheduled message sending.
SMSC Applications
The Mobile Arts SMSC Application suite includes an extensive set of powerful applications such as:
- MT SMS forwarding/copy to another mobile
- MO and MT SMS forwarding/copy to e-mail
- MT SMS copy to multiple destinations, e.g. for multi-SIM solutions
- SMS auto-reply, e.g. for automatic sending of "out-of-office" SMS notifications
- SMS Notification Agent, providing integrated SMS notifications for new voice mail, new email and new missed call alerts
- End-user controlled MT SMS screening, with origination address filtering
- Operator and end-user managed SMS SPAM Control, for message content based SPAM detection
- SMS Firewall, enabling the Operator to fully police the delivery of SMS messages from external networks to the Operator's subscribers, regardless of source. As an example, the SMS Firewall can ensure that SMS Push messages only are sent from the Operator's own SMSC
- SMS Lawful Interception, with interception for both outgoing and incoming messages fully supported
